Abiotic Factors: |
|
The Pacific Ocean is filled with many non-living things also known as abiotic factors. One example of an abiotic factor is temperature, the role the temperature plays on the ocean is it determines how hot or cold the surface of the ocean can get, also heat moves all through all the different levels of the ocean. The temperature also affects some types of chemical processes. It is a big factor the ocean depends on. Another abiotic factor is salinity which is the measure of salt water, the role it plays is if there was to much or to little of salinity many animals would be affected because they are adapted to a certain amount of salt, so it makes sure that there is the perfect amount. The last abiotic factor we are going to be talking about is water, there are 187 quintillion gallons of water in the Pacific Ocean, that is one-third of the water in all oceans. The roles it plays is it keeps all the biotic animals up and functioning, which is very important. There are many other abiotic factors in the ocean these are just a few of the more important ones.
