Host-Parasite Interactions:
In the Pacific Ocean today there are many host-parasite interactions. One example is the parasite Toxoplasma Gondii which is the main cause of the disease known as toxoplasmosis. This single-celled parasite was recently found to be infecting and in some cases killing lots of marine animals also known as hosts such as California sea otters, Hawaiian monk seals, and Pacific harbor seals. Many researchers still don't know why it is affecting marine animals because it is mainly known for infecting land cats, but technically it is very capable of infecting all warm-blooded animals throughout the world.
